Olympia is a perfect 4-0 against PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Spartans will be playing in front of their home fans against the Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. Olympia's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Olympia's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over Maroa-Forsyth. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won three in a row.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over Rushville-Industry on Monday.
Mackenzie Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). Miller was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Aubrey Vogel was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in three or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Heubner, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rushville-Industry only posted an OBP of .172.
PORTA/Ashland-Chandlerville Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Olympia, their victory bumped their record up to 11-7-1.
