This season hasn't been kind to the Mead Hall Episcopal School Panthers, who are still winless after their sixth contest. They took a serious blow against Cambridge Academy on Saturday, falling 59-16. While losing is never fun, Mead Hall Episcopal School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Cambridge Academy is ranked 82nd).
Cambridge Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jillian Mapes, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Mapes pulled down eight or more rebounds. Izzy Southerland was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Mead Hall Episcopal School's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Cambridge Academy, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Mead Hall Episcopal School and Augusta Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cambridge Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ben Lippen at 11:30 a.m. on December 28th.
