Lamphere hasn't had much luck against Utica recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will look to defend their home field against the Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Lamphere's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Croswell-Lexington as they made off with a 10-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rams.
Ethan Malak looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Lamphere let Gavin Abbott and Aidan Grzsikowski run wild. Abbott scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Grzsikowski scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Grzsikowski is becoming a predictor of Lamphere's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Charlie Belles, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Lamphere always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Utica got the win against Lakeview on Saturday by a conclusive 11-4. The win continues a trend for the Chieftains in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now won three in a row.
Alex Gorgievski and Michael Hoppe did most of the damage at the plate: Gorgievski went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Hoppe fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Logan Simunic was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.
Utica's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Lamphere, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lamphere has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .497. However, it's not like Utica struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lamphere couldn't quite finish off Utica when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
