Kouts hasn't had much luck against Hebron recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mustangs & Fillies are taking a road trip to challenge the Hawks at 4:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Kouts got the win against Tri-Township by a conclusive 17-1. With that victory, the Mustangs & Fillies brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Katelyn Kleckner made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lillian Earle, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cheyanne Bailey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Kouts always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hebron made easy work of Morgan Township on Friday and carried off an 11-4 win. The victory continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Cherokees: they've now won six in a row.
Like Kouts, Hebron also got a great game from a two-way player: Addison Toczek. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Toczek was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Macey Siminski was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Addison Dujmovich was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Kouts' win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-6. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.8 runs over those games. As for Hebron, their record now sits at 4-5.
Kouts couldn't quite get it done against Hebron in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-2. Can the Mustangs & Fillies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
