The Rider Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Aledo. While losing is never fun, Rider can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 666th, while Aledo is ranked 267th).
Rider's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Caiden Reed, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Gavin Aday who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 34.1% of Rider's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jre Donnell was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Rider has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-21 record this season. As for Aledo, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-11.
Rider will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Brewer at 6:00 p.m. Brewer is coming into the match with four straight victories on the road, so Rider is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Aledo, they will take on Northwest at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwest is coming into the matchup with four straight losses at home, meaning Aledo will have to defend against a team hungry for a win.
