Two dominant signal callers in Priscilla Garcia and Yarih Carrillo are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Arbor View Aggies will be playing at home against the Durango Trailblazers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Durango took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Arbor View, who comes in off a win.
Arbor View is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Desert Pines to the tune of 54-6 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Aggies, who have now won seven games by 23 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Arbor View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Garcia, who threw for 101 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of her passes, and also picked up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown. Jayda Emil was another key receiver, picking up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Arbor View's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Karah Foss was the leader with two.
Meanwhile, Durango ended up a good deal behind Amplus Academy on Tuesday and lost 24-6. The Trailblazers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Arbor View has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.7 points per game. As for Durango, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Friday's match might be decided in the trenches. Arbor View has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148.2 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Durango, though, as they've been averaging only 94.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Arbor View against Durango in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 56-14 win. Will Arbor View repeat their success, or does Durango have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
