This season hasn't been kind to The Ridgeland Panthers, who are still winless after their ninth match. They fell 20-9 to Gordon Lee on Friday. Ridgeland lost against Gordon Lee in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 49-13 score last time.
Ethan Waters threw for 128 yards on seven of 17 attempts. Malachi Hutchinson was his top target, picking up 58 receiving yards.
Gordon Lee found their leader in underclassman Brayden Stoker, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Layne Vaughn was in the mix too, providing Gordon Lee with two touchdowns.
Ridgeland's defeat was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 10-2 Adairsville and 8-2 North Cobb Christian (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 59.8% over those games). As for Gordon Lee, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Ridgeland will head out on the road to face off against LaFayette at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Gordon Lee, they will be playing at home against Ringgold at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
