It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Bucklin Red Aces ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged Kiowa County out 66-64. Bucklin's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Bucklin was led to victory by Kolson Cook and Kaden Tilley. Cook scored 22 points along with three steals, while Tilley scored 23 points along with three blocks. That makes it three consecutive games in which Tilley has scored at least 25% of Bucklin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leighton Konrade, who scored six points.
Bucklin pushed their record up to 2-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Kiowa County, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
Bucklin will take on Pretty Prairie in a holiday battle at 8:00 p.m. on Friday at. Kiowa County will be home for the holidays to greet St. John at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. St. John presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Kiowa County in Kansas (St. John is ranked 111th, while Kiowa County is ranked 292nd).
