Basketball Recap: South Effingham Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

If Glynn Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played South Effingham, they should've done a better job of containing Will Harlin. The South Effingham Mustangs managed a 67-61 win over the Glynn Academy Terrors on Saturday thanks in part to Harlin, who posted 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024.

The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Campbell, who had nine points and five boards. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for four straight games.

Ahmad Mcintosh and Jermaine Mack certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Mcintosh dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds, while Mack dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten boards. Mcintosh is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Trevion Bryant, who put up seven points.

South Effingham's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-11. As for Glynn Academy, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-20.

South Effingham and Glynn Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings. South Effingham will face off against Brunswick at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 358 places (391 vs. 33). Similarly, Glynn Academy (ranked 477th) will meet Bradwell Institute (ranked 49th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
