The Crowley Gent's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 11th straight loss. They took a 72-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Erath. Crowley has not had much luck with Erath recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Crowley had strong showings from Joe'Kye Pete, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, and Alaysia Arvie, who scored 21 points along with seven assists and seven rebounds. That was a full 35.6% of Crowley's points, marking the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Something new happened on Tuesday as Pete saw her first action of the season, playing 29 minutes against Erath. Pete made the most of the opportunity, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
Even though they lost, Crowley were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Crowley dropped their record down to 3-14 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Erath, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12.
Crowley will take on St. Martinville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crowley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last six games. Erath does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
