The Templeton Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Atascadero Greyhounds at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Templeton has nine straight victories, Atascadero has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
If Templeton beats Atascadero with ten runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Eagles put the hurt on Paso Robles with a sharp 10-1 win on Thursday. Considering the Eagles have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Tegan Jay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bailey Fiorenza was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Jessie Branch was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Orcutt Academy hit Atascadero with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Greyhounds might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-2 to the Spartans, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
Devyn Dutra put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 5.1 innings pitched. Dutra was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
Templeton pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Atascadero, their loss dropped their record down to 5-15.
Atascadero's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Templeton has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Atascadero, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Templeton's sizable advantage in that area, the Greyhounds will need to find a way to close that gap.
Templeton took their victory against Atascadero in their previous matchup back in April by a conclusive 17-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
