The Peekskill Red Devils suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Hendrick Hudson, falling 71-24. It was the first time this season that Peekskill let down their fans at home.
Despite the defeat, Peekskill saw an underclassman step up: Azarriyah Ashley scored 12 points.
Hendrick Hudson's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elyse Smith, who scored 13 points along with six steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Raguso, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Peekskill's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Hendrick Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Peekskill won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Scarsdale at 4:30 p.m. on January 12th. As for Hendrick Hudson, they will be playing at home against Sleepy Hollow at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
