The Juan Diego Catholic Soaring Eagle fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Faith Lutheran Crusaders on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Crusaders 68-63. While losing is never fun, Juan Diego Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 64th in Utah, while Faith Lutheran is ranked 17th in Nevada).
Despite the loss, Juan Diego Catholic still got an impressive performance from Luke Meyer, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Meyer's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Tevarii Pecqueux was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Juan Diego Catholic now has a losing record at 3-4. As for Faith Lutheran, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.
Juan Diego Catholic will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Judge Memorial Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on December 29th. Faith Lutheran won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rancho Verde at 9:00 p.m. on December 20th. Rancho Verde will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line.
