Tommy Durst of Northern ran for the longest rushing play in Freelance this season against Mountain Ridge last week. Durst ran for 81 yards on the play and finished with 156 on the day as his team bested the Miners.
St. Mary's Ryken moved up to 83 from 123 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. St. Mary's Ryken climbed the ranks as a result of topping Avalon 44-22.
Jesse Wolford and Jordan Keefer gave Hancock a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Wolford threw for 22 yards and two touchdowns, while Keefer ran for 234 yards. Wolford also contributed to the rushing game with 68 yards on the ground.
Craig Funk was the best wideout in the league this week as Northern bested Mountain Ridge. Funk tallied one reception for 19 yards. Jeremy Bender helped Northern's passing attack out by catching two balls for six yards.
Eastern Christian Academy's David Sills and Daikiel Shorts have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading Freelance in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Sills has thrown for 719 yards this season, while Shorts has 14 catches for 307 yards. Keefer from the Panthers leads the league in rushing with 443 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Phil Carr's team takes on Allegany. At the moment, the Huskies are in eighth, while the Campers are in fourth.
Northern was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from 11th to eighth in the league. The Huskies vanquished the Miners 28-8 earlier in the week.
