It was a good run, but the Weber Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 71-33 loss at the hands of Syracuse. While losing is never fun, Weber can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while Syracuse is ranked eighth).
Weber lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Rylee Jugler, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two steals. Jugler has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Arbon, who scored seven points.
Avery Sanders was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with nine assists and four steals for Syracuse. Sanders hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Maylee Anderson, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Weber's defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 6-9. As for Syracuse, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-3.
Weber will be playing in front of their home fans against Fremont at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Syracuse, they will head out on the road to face off against Davis at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Davis is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
