The Gaylord Blue Devils had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with a 64-53 victory over Traverse City Central. For Gaylord, this counts as revenge for the 61-30 defeat Traverse City Central walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.
Luke Gelow was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 48 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it seven consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Gaylord's points.
Gaylord pushed their record up to 4-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Traverse City Central, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gaylord will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Petoskey at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Traverse City Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Forest Hills Northern at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
