After three games on the road, Caldwell County is heading back home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the South Panola Tigers at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
Last Thursday, Caldwell County was the victim of a rough 74-54 defeat at the hands of Union County.
Meanwhile, South Panola's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. The contest between South Panola and Palmer wasn't particularly close, with South Panola falling 69-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
South Panola's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cameron Griffin, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Demartric Houston who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Keylan Bibbs, who scored six points.
Even though they lost, South Panola were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. This was only their eighth loss (out of ten games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Caldwell County's loss was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-4. As for South Panola, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
