Logan County is 8-2 against Glasgow since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Cougars will welcome the Scotties at 6:00 p.m.
Logan County fell victim to Franklin-Simpson and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 1-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Glasgow ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top against Cumberland County by a score of 8-5. With that victory, the Scotties brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Thomas Glass and Landon Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Glass went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Martin went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Glass has posted since back in April.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Glasgow kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Glasgow is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-14 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Logan County, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-13.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Logan County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glasgow struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Logan County got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March against Glasgow by a conclusive 7-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Scotties turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
