Softball Recap: Parkwood Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Piedmont, Parkwood was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Cuthbertson Cavaliers by a score of 4-1. That's more bragging rights for the Wolf Pack, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Chloe Purgason spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Parkwood's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Geneva Yow, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Lily Kucmerowski also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Parkwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cuthbertson only posted a batting average of .200.

Parkwood's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Cuthbertson, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 7-2.

When Parkwood and Cuthbertson next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Parkwood will take on Central Academy and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cuthbertson will try to stop Marvin Ridge's eight-game winning streak when they meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
