The Thunder Ridge Longhorns's 16-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 71-34 to St. John's/Tipton Catholic, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Thunder Ridge was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-19.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. John's/Tipton Catholic to victory, but perhaps none more so than Edward Horinek, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Horinek hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyson Gates, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Thunder Ridge has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thunder Ridge will take on the Mustangs on Friday. Sylvan-Lucas is coming into the match hot, having won their last five games. As for St. John's/Tipton Catholic, they will head out on the road to challenge the Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
