Mohawk Area moved up to 397 from 445 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL AA Midwestern. The Warriors were able to make the jump by losing to Beaver 35-14.
The Bobcats extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mohawk Area, 35-14. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Lincoln's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Brandon Magnifico threw for 20 and one touchdown and Beau Ewing had 20 yards receiving. On the ground Christian Sarver chipped in 79 yards. Nick Valentino helped Lincoln's passing attack out by catching one ball for 11 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback Devin Kelosky of Riverside is the league leader in passing yards this season with 619. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, the Wolverine's Jared Meyers has rushed for 648 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Craig Thompson. The New Brighton star has 14 catches for 248 yards.
A big matchup in WPIAL AA Midwestern this week will be when Aliquippa takes on Beaver Falls. As it stands, the Quips are in second, while the Tigers are in third.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Aliquippa takes on Beaver Falls. Michael Zmijanac's team has allowed 22 points this season, while Ryan Matsook's team has given up 123. The Quips allowed 12 points last week as they defeated Lincoln.
Aliquippa led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Don Phillips' team.
