The Oroville Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Gridley, falling 84-51. Oroville has not had much luck with Gridley recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Oroville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Campbell, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Taylor, who scored six points along with nine assists and six rebounds.
Gridley's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kiko Castillo, who scored 19 points. Castillo is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Luis Murillo was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and four steals.
Oroville has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Gridley, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-6.
Oroville will head out on the road to square off against Orland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Orland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday. As for Gridley, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Las Plumas at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th.
