Nash Central is 7-2 against Bunn since December of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Nash Central Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Bunn Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Nash Central and five for Bunn.
Nash Central managed to keep up with Northern Nash until halftime on Tuesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Nash Central was outmatched by Northern Nash on the road and fell 76-48. While losing is never fun, Nash Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while Northern Nash is ranked 147th).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Bunn, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-51 loss to Southern Nash on Tuesday. Bunn has struggled against Southern Nash recently, as their game on Tuesday was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Bunn got a solid performance out of Jameir Strickland, who scored 24 points along with eight rebounds. That was a full 47.1% of Bunn's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was D.J. Smith, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Nash Central has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Bunn, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-13.
Nash Central came up short against Bunn in their previous matchup back in January, falling 48-36. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bunn's Domantea Cooke, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds.
