The West Jordan Jaguars will square off against the Cyprus Pirates at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as West Jordan comes in on six and Cyprus on three.
If West Jordan beats Cyprus with 12 runs on Tuesday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. The Jaguars walked away with a 12-7 win over Taylorsville on Friday. While the Jaguars didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ethan Baldwin made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.
In other pitching news, Christian Flint looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brendan Wood, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kekoa Wakley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2.
West Jordan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .375 or higher in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cyprus). They never let Hunter get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Friday. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by ten runs or more this season.
Like West Jordan, Cyprus also got a great game from a two-way player: Dj Oveson. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Oveson was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cody Densley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Brody Densley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Cyprus' win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for West Jordan, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Tuesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. West Jordan has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .481. However, it's not like Cyprus struggles in that department as they've averaged .500. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Jordan couldn't quite finish off Cyprus in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Will the Jaguars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
