Southeast is 1-9 against Columbus since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Southeast Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Columbus Titans at 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Southeast posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 51-22 victory over Baxter Springs. With Southeast ahead 33-11 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Southeast can attribute much of their success to Eliz White, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds and four steals, and Teagan Warner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points White has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bella Tavernaro, who scored five points.
In what's become a running theme this season, Columbus gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Baxter Springs 56-8 at home.
Columbus' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Katy Mooney, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Mooney hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Another player making a difference was Brylie Johnson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Southeast has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Columbus, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Southeast have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 34.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Columbus struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 26.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Southeast came up short against Columbus when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 32-22. Can Southeast avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
