After flying high against the Bryce Valley Mustangs last Friday, the Whitehorse Raiders came back down to earth. Whitehorse lost to Monument Valley at home by a decisive 57-43 margin on Tuesday. It was the first time this season that Whitehorse let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Whitehorse lost, one person who can't be blamed is Heidi Clark. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points. Kayla Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Shimequa Hudson was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Begaye, who scored ten points.
Whitehorse's defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-6. As for Monument Valley, the victory was the 14th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-1.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Monticello the next time they take the court. Monument Valley will host Monticello at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Whitehorse will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
