Basketball Recap: Tru Dewey's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Rawlins County over St. Francis

Rawlins County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-56 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Francis Indians. The Buffaloes were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Rawlins County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tru Dewey, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Dewey is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Sis, who posted ten points and seven boards.

Rawlins County's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for St. Francis, they moved to 2-12 with that victory, which also ended their 11-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rawlins County will head out to challenge Logan/Palco at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Logan/Palco will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something Rawlins County surely won't give up without a fight. St. Francis has already played their next match (against Decatur Community), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
