The Jackson Generals were the 35-28 winner over the Homestead Broncos when they last played one another back in December of 2014, but their luck changed this time around. Jackson was outmatched by Homestead at home and fell 45-17.
Homestead got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kelis Durham out in front who scored 8 points along with 6 rebounds and 6 steals. Durham is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ava Ferniza, who scored 9 points along with 4 steals.
Jackson's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Homestead, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jackson will square off against North Miami Beach at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Allowing an average of 57 points per game, North Miami Beach has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game. As for Homestead, they will head out on the road to face off against Reagan at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
