Cocke County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Anderson County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Fighting Cocks will welcome the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. Cocke County will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
If Cocke County beats Anderson County with 11 runs on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Fighting Cocks beat Seymour on Wednesday by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. Considering the Fighting Cocks have won 24 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Hailee Hartsell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 21 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adisen Mcnealy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Chloe Niethammer, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Cocke County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least one batters in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Anderson County's offense. They came up short against Gibbs on Friday, falling 11-0. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost nine in a row.
Cocke County's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 28-4-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.4 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson County, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-14.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cocke County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .445. However, it's not like Anderson County struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
