New Washington and Austin are an even 4-4 against one another since January of 2015, but not for long. The New Washington Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Austin Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
New Washington pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Henryville by a score of 59-57. New Washington has not had much luck with Henryville recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Austin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 78-71 to Switzerland County. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
New Washington has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season. As for Austin, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-13.
New Washington skirted past Austin 59-56 in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for New Washington since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
