The Lapel Bulldogs fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against the Frankton Eagles on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 62-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. Lapel was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Frankton apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Lapel lost, one person who can't be blamed is Bode Judge. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with 7 rebounds. Judge scored a full 39.7% of Lapel's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nick Witte, who scored 5 points along with 7 assists.
Frankton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brady Carmack, who scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. Joey Wright was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with 6 assists.
This is the second loss in a row for Lapel and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Frankton, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lapel will square off against Pendleton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Frankton, they will head out on the road to face off against Muncie Burris at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
