Shadow Hills gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 66-6 victory over the Indio Rajahs. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Rajahs recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Shadow Hills' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jesse Rodroguez, who threw for 282 yards and six TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt, and also punched in one rushing score. What's more, Rodroguez posted four rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August of 2024. Damian Walls was another key rusher, rushing for 160 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Reef Av., who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was Shadow Hills' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Albert Tijerina was especially locked on to Indio's QB and sacked him twice. Another thorn in the Rajahs' side was Zion Oudinarath, who made two total tackles (1.0 for loss) and snagged two interceptions which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shadow Hills is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Palo Verde Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Indio, they will venture away from home to challenge Fullerton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
