If the Maclay Marauders were feeling good off their 47-20 takedown of the St. John Paul II Panthers on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Maclay received a tough blow on Wednesday as they fell 38-24 to the Timberwolves. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Maclay of the 46-35 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Maclay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lauren Guyer. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. Guyer is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
Faith Durden was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with five rebounds and two steals for Chiles. The team also got some help courtesy of Lainey Crisafulli, who scored two points along with 23 rebounds.
Maclay's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-9. As for Chiles, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11.
Maclay will face off against the Buccaneers at 5:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chiles, they and the Scorpions will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Crossroad Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
