Marshall is 0-3 against the Jaguars since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Marshall Rams will look to defend their home court against the Johnson Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Marshall will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Jaguars are ranked 178th).
Marshall came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 60-36 margin over Madison. With Marshall ahead 30-9 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Johnson came up short against the Cougars on Tuesday and fell 58-48.
Despite their loss, Johnson saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Mackenzie Donald, who scored 21 points, was perhaps the best of all. Janae Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Marshall now has a winning record of 18-17. As for Johnson, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-16.
Marshall suffered a grim 59-38 defeat to the Jaguars in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Johnson's Ava Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 steals. Now that Marshall knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
