The Nocona Indians will challenge the Chico Dragons at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Nocona is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
Nocona barely beat Alvord the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Nocona blew past Alvord 12-6 on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Indians needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Reagan Phipps made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-5.
In other batting news, Heidi Atteberry and Skye Kirby did most of the damage at the plate: Atteberry scored two runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-5, while Kirby went 3-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Atteberry also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Tinley Cable was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Nocona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Chico lost 13-3 to Muenster on Tuesday. The Dragons have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.
Chico saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addyson Sides, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI and one triple.
Nocona has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.1 runs over those games. Chico's loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Nocona has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .651. However, it's not like Chico struggles in that department as they've averaged .543. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
