KEARNEY, Mo. -
Park Hill South (Kansas City, Mo.) grabbed the lead when
Shaefer Schuetz. thew a touchdown to
Craig Scott with under a minute left in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat
Kearney (Mo.) 34-23 on Saturday. The score was the final lead change in a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead swaps.
The Bulldogs pulled ahead on a two-point conversion, and subsequently went into halftime leading 15-14. The Panthers took the lead for good with a touchdown pass by Schuetz. to Scott in the fourth quarter.
Despite scoring six points in the third, Park Hill South still trailed by 5 points going into the fourth quarter. But 14 points in the fourth helped PHS pull out the victory.
Cole Davis played well for Kearney. He threw two touchdowns. His performance brought his touchdown total to four on the year.
Zac Ricketts played well for the Kansas City school in the victory. The senior tight end threw two touchdowns and ran for one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
The loss comes after Kearney defeated Winnetonka 35-28 last week. With the win the Panthers extended their winning streak to three games. The loss snapped KHS's 2-game winning streak.
