Eugene Ingram and Sonny Ward stepped up to the plate in a big way. Ingram went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Ward went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Ward has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Western Hills). They never let Aiken get on the board and left with a 30-0 win on Monday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.
John Farris was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over four innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Western Hills is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 3-5 otherwise. Farris was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI.
In other batting news, Western Hills got a massive performance out of Peyton Schnitzler, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Schnitzler is becoming a predictor of the Mustangs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-5 when he doesn't). Deuce Jefferies was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI.
Western Hills was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .560. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
