Baseball Recap: Slater Plays to a Tie

Slater and Higbee pushed the score to 18-2 the last time they played Higbee, but on Thursday defenses reigned supreme. The two teams finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 tie. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

RJ Pannell spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Slater's tie gives them a new season record of 4-5-1. Meanwhile, Higbee's record is now 3-17-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Slater will face off against Sweet Springs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Greyhounds have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Higbee, they will challenge Wellsville-Middletown at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
