The Johnsonville Flashes entered their tilt with the Carvers Bay Bears with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Johnsonville narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bears 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Johnsonville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Khalil Lewis, who scored 12 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lewis has scored all season. Xavier Johnson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Despite the defeat, Carvers Bay saw an underclassman step up: Kenard Heyward scored 27 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Heyward hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Edrick Greene, who scored four points along with three steals.
Johnsonville's victory bumped their record up to 3-12. As for Carvers Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing East Clarendon the next time they take the court. Johnsonville will head out to face the Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Bears will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
