Meade added to the longest winning streak in Hi-Plains this week by beating Sublette, 73-30. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Buffaloes.
Stanton County lost to Sterling 61-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Jeremy Amerin was a bright spot for the Trojans, as he ran for 82 yards in the defeat.
Alex Gomez threw for 187 yards and 4 touchdowns. He was 8-9 with 0 interceptions.
Gomez put up the best numbers through the air as Elkhart beat Syracuse. Gomez's favorite target this week was Juston Hurn, who caught 2 passes for 106 yards.
The Wildcats' Gomez and Hurn have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Gomez has thrown for 1,820 yards this season, while Hurn has 37 catches for 1,145 yards. Lakin's Gage McAtee leads the league in rushing yards with 1,113.
Elkhart's Gomez is within 180 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Oakley.
