Girard is 0-4 against Ursuline since April of 2015 but things could change on Wednesday. The Indians will host the Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Girard's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 victory over McKinley. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Red Dragons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Girard saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Ward, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another was Will Hynes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Ursuline hadn't done well against West Branch recently (they were 0-7-1 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 3-0.
The result came thanks to Joe Balog's shutout, as he gave up just two hits.
On the hitting side, Luke Kollar was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Anthony Triveri was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Girard now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Ursuline, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Ursuline's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Girard has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Ursuline, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Girard keep running through batters, or will the Fighting Irish buck the trend?
