The Sumner Stingrays are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Strawberry Crest Chargers on February 7th. Hopefully Sumner is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Chargers in Florida (the Stingrays are ranked 123rd, while the Chargers are ranked 419th).
Last Thursday, Sumner ended up a good deal behind the Warriors and lost 60-42.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Strawberry Crest had no problem doing just that on Monday. They snuck past the Wolves with a 30-26 win. The victory was just what Strawberry Crest needed coming off of a 43-23 defeat in their prior game.
Strawberry Crest had a senior duo take command as Jenna Tia scored 13 points and Elektra Ribot scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tia has scored all season.
Sumner's defeat dropped their record down to 19-5. As for Strawberry Crest, their victory bumped their record up to 8-12.
Everything came up roses for Sumner against the Chargers when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 63-21 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sumner since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
