Port Townsend (Wash.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 30-14 win over
Life Christian Academy (Tacoma, Wash.).
The Redskins put up seven points in the opening frame. Port Townsend scored on a
Jacob King touchdown run.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by King in the first quarter, PT led 13-7 at the half.
The Redskins expanded their lead to 20 points entering the fourth quarter. Port Townsend scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by
Matt Cain.
The Eagles'
Taylor Roelofs played well. The junior wide receiver threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to four on the year.
PT's standout player in the win was King. The junior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 11 touchdowns on the season.
The Redskins had struggled this season, allowing 30.3 points per game. But Port Townsend tightened up and held Life Christian Academy right around its season average of 12.5 points per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which LCA took, 42-0.
The win was a nice bounce back for PT, which lost to Cascade Christian last week, 55-19.
Port Townsend (4-3) goes up against Tacoma Baptist in a non-conference game matchup next week, while Life Christian Academy (0-7) locks horns with Cedar Park Christian in a 1A Nisqually - Division 2 game.
