Natalia is 0-5 against the Owls since November of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Natalia Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Hondo Owls at 6:15 p.m. Natalia has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Last Friday, Natalia took their game at home with ease, bagging a 64-30 win over the Wolves. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Natalia had established a 27 point advantage.
Natalia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Leyla Saenz led the charge by scoring 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Yahdi Lujan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten steals.
Hondo has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by Lytle 75-38 on Friday. Hondo has struggled against the Pirates recently, as their game on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Natalia's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-20. As for Hondo, their loss dropped their record down to 18-10.
Natalia came up short against the Owls in their previous meeting back in January, falling 48-39. Can Natalia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
