West Springfield is 0-10 against Central since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The West Springfield Terriers on the road again and play against the Central Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
Last Tuesday, West Springfield came up short against Holyoke and fell 49-37. That's two games in a row now that West Springfield has lost by exactly 12 points.
Central posted their biggest victory yet this season on Wednesday. They breezed by Holyoke at home to the tune of 75-34. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Central has posted against Holyoke since February 14, 2019.
Jai-lyn Garvin-martin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, shooting 8-for-13 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 32 points and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Angela Hector, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
West Springfield bumped their record down to 1-2 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Central, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
West Springfield was dealt a bruising 64-34 loss at the hands of Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can West Springfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
