Bellwood-Antis hasn't had much luck against Bellefonte recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Blue Devils will venture away from home to square off against the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Bellwood-Antis has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
On Monday, Bellwood-Antis came up short against Bald Eagle Area and fell 16-12.
Chase Plummer made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Brady McConnell, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Bellefonte strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bishop Guilfoyle an 11-0 shutout. Considering the Raiders have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Not much got past Triston Heeman, who gave up just four hits and racked up six Ks to keep Bishop Guilfoyle off the board.
On the hitting side, Evan Mattern was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Isaac Gall was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Bellefonte's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Bellwood-Antis, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Bellwood-Antis has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .486. However, it's not like Bellefonte struggles in that department as they've averaged .526. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bellwood-Antis might still be hurting after the 7-1 defeat they got from Bellefonte in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Blue Devils avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
