Volleyball Recap: Cushman Has No Trouble Against Greater Miami Academy

Cushman's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Greater Miami Academy Warriors with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Cougars, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Cushman's got stronger as the match went on, holding Greater Miami Academy to fewer and fewer points set over set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 25-12.

Cushman found their leader in sophomore Kelly Lopez, who had four digs and three aces.

Cushman was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Cushman is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Greater Miami Academy, they dropped their record down to 2-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Coming up, Cushman will challenge Hebrew Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The contest will give the Cougars their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Greater Miami Academy, they will face off against Edison Private at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
