The Galena Grizzlies suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Reno by a score of 49-46. Galena has not had much luck with Reno recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Galena lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mia Turner. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Turner hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Coombs, who scored seven points.
Reno got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Yolanda Reyes out in front who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Kindle Rowe, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Galena's loss dropped their record down to 4-15. As for Reno, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galena will take on Bishop Manogue at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Manogue is looking to tack on another W to their eight-game streak on the road. As for Reno, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Spanish Springs at 5:15 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Spanish Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday.
