Riverhead won the last time they faced Brentwood and things went their way on Monday too. The Blue Waves put the hurt on the Indians with a sharp 16-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blue Waves, who have now won four contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Mya Marelli made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Marelli was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Riverhead got a massive performance out of Emma Freeborn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave Freeborn a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrianna Martinez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Riverhead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brentwood only posted an OBP of .375.
Riverhead is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Brentwood fell to 2-1.
As of now, neither Riverhead nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
