The Mountain Crest Mustangs will face off against the Timpanogos Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given how much these teams ran in their prior games.
Last Friday, Mountain Crest really took it to Tooele for the full four quarters, racking up a 63-14 victory at home. Mountain Crest pushed the score to 56-14 by the end of the third, a deficit Tooele had no chance of recovering from.
Mountain Crest's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Casey Crofts, who threw for 275 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes, and Dax Benson, who gained 191 total yards and three touchdowns. Benson's longest rush was for an incredible 80 yards. Will DeKorver got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Timpanogos had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14 points), and they went ahead and made it four two weeks ago. They walked away with a 42-34 win over Spanish Fork. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Timpanogos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Riggs, who threw for 413 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.8% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Easton Bretzing was another key contributor, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns.
Mountain Crest now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Timpanogos, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
